NCTM Standards 2000


Students develop and justify their formal mathematical arguments using reasoning and proof. You can help them develop this ability. Simply use questions to stimulate their thinking as they explore mathematical ideas. By doing this, you will encourage them to justify their ideas verbally, symbolically and in writing.
