Math Overview (Slide Show Version)

Information Inputs

  • Numbers and Number Sense
  • Measurements
  • Geometric Sense
  • Algebraic Sense
  • Statistics and Probability

Information inputs are the content we want students to learn. In the pre K-12 math curriculum, there are five of these content areas.

These are:

  • Numbers and Number Sense
  • Measurement
  • Geometric Sense
  • Algebraic Sense
  • Statistics and Probability

Although these five areas make up the entire math curriculum, they are emphasized differently depending on the grade level. Each of these areas begins with simple ideas and progresses to more difficult ones. Other math subjects such as trigonometry and calculus extend the ideas to even higher levels.
